Salary calculator / ₹5 LPA

₹5 LPA in-hand salary

On a ₹5 LPA CTC you take home about ₹37,667 a month, or ₹4,52,000 a year: 90% of the CTC. There is no income tax at this salary: taxable income comes to ₹4,01,000, under the ₹12 lakh limit, so the rebate cancels the ₹50 the slabs would charge.

New tax regime, FY 2026-27 (slabs unchanged by Budget 2026) · basic 40% of CTC · PF on the ₹25,000 wage ceiling

Your employer also pays ₹2,000 a month into your PF account. It is part of the ₹41,667 monthly CTC but never reaches your bank, which is why the gross salary on the slip is ₹39,667 and not the full CTC divided by 12.

How the income tax is worked out

Annual CTC₹5,00,000
Less: employer PF for the year (not taxed)− ₹24,000
Less: standard deduction− ₹75,000
Taxable income₹4,01,000

Taxable income is ₹12 lakh or less, so the rebate (up to ₹60,000, the one most people know as Section 87A) cancels the whole ₹50. Tax payable: zero.

If your company takes PF on the full basic

Nothing changes at ₹5 LPA. Basic is ₹16,667 a month, under the ₹25,000 wage ceiling, so PF is 12% of the whole basic either way: ₹2,000 from you and the same from your employer.

What this figure leaves out

  • Professional tax. Most states that levy it deduct up to ₹200 a month (the Constitution caps it at ₹2,500 a year); some, Delhi among them, charge none.
  • Gratuity and variable pay. If your CTC counts gratuity (commonly 4.81% of basic, about ₹9,620 a year here) or a performance bonus, take them off the CTC first: neither is paid monthly.
  • Deductions. HRA exemption and 80C belong to the old regime and are not claimed here. An employer NPS contribution is allowed under the new regime and would lower the tax a little.

Questions people ask about ₹5 LPA

How much is ₹5 LPA per month?
₹5 LPA is ₹41,667 a month as CTC, but the bank credit is about ₹37,667. The ₹4,000 difference is ₹2,000 of employer PF and ₹2,000 of your own PF.
Is there income tax on ₹5 LPA?
Not under the new regime for FY 2026-27. Taxable income is ₹4,01,000 after the employer's PF and the ₹75,000 standard deduction, which is under ₹12 lakh, so the ₹60,000 rebate wipes the tax out completely.
How much PF is deducted on ₹5 LPA?
₹2,000 from you and the same from your employer each month: 12% of a ₹16,667 basic, which is under the ₹25,000 wage ceiling. That is ₹48,000 a year into your PF account.
